Our Ongoing Commitment to Safety

MiChat (pronounced as mai-chat) is a mobile communication app for people to connect and keep in touch with family and friends. We are committed to our goal of creating a safe and welcoming community for MiChat users around the world to connect with others. To achieve this goal, MiChat takes any abuse of our service seriously.

Our Community Guidelines outline what is not allowed on MiChat. MiChat is not a platform for, among others, prostitution, sexual solicitation, or human trafficking. It is not the place for sexually suggestive content or content that may be used for sexual gratification.

Users who breached the listed Terms of Service and Community Guidelines will be restricted or banned depending on the severity of the breach and the account history on MiChat. For instance, we may restrict the use of certain functions for a first breach, but if they continue to breach our policies, we may ban their accounts.

Community Moderation

We place great importance on our technology, processes, and team to moderate and review offensive content promptly for the safety of our community. We only have access to information that is made public (profile picture, a profile description, and messages) in “trending chats” and “message in a bottle”. For information that is made public, our machine learning algorithms screen for any offensive content and moderate it even before a user reports it. For offensive content that is sent between users privately, we rely on the reporting user to submit the violated messages and screenshots for review by our dedicated and growing team of human administrators.

Reporting and Blocking Profiles

Our users play a very crucial role in ensuring a pleasant experience in MiChat. MiChat makes it easy for users to report unwarranted behaviour for review by our app administrators. Users have direct access to our Community Guidelines in the app (Me > About > Community Guidelines) and on our website. We also give users the option to block profiles and set privacy preferences in the app, so that they can control their own experience on MiChat.

By having your support in reporting inappropriate behaviour and content, we can better promote a community effort to enforce a safer and more welcoming community and environment for people to chat.

We encourage all users to report any behaviour that violates our Community Guidelines via the in-app report function or write to us at support@michat.sg.
